WATER MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP
Our Director of Community Development, Roge, at the DINEPA Workshop
Last month, two members of our team travelled south for a crucial DINEPA-led workshop on municipal water management, with some colleagues joining virtually from Port-au-Prince due to security concerns. This gathering brought together key stakeholders - Ministry of Interior, DINEPA, OPERA, Ministry of Public Works, communal mayors from across departments, and UNICEF - all focused on strengthening mayors' legal responsibility for water and sanitation in their communes.
We were honored to be one of only two NGOs selected to present alongside Helvetas. Roge Michel's presentation set the tone for three days of impactful discussions, with participants particularly impressed by our data-driven approach and practical tools that empower mayors to take ownership of water management.
Roge showcased Haiti Outreach's comprehensive model: our trainer-of-trainers methodology, leadership development curriculum, data-driven decision making, community vision building, expanded basic water access, the successful Pignon Water system, and our partnerships with Rotary and HANWASH.
The recognition of our work and the tools we've developed to support municipal water responsibility was incredibly encouraging. These collaborations strengthen Haiti's path toward sustainable, locally-managed water systems.
