SCHOOL SANITATION INITIATIVE UPDATE

Rehabilitated School Latrine in the Cerca Carvajal Commune

Our sanitation initiative will conclude successfully within the next two months. During this final phase, we are completing latrine rehabilitation at 16 schools, transforming facilities that were previously unusable and significantly impacting student welfare.

Inadequate sanitation infrastructure creates substantial barriers to education. When students lack access to clean water, functional bathrooms, and handwashing facilities, their ability to concentrate on learning suffers considerably. Female students face particular challenges during menstruation, often staying home entirely when sanitation conditions are unsafe. Poor facility conditions frequently lead to illness and disease, resulting in extended absences that disrupt academic progress and educational outcomes.

The newly rehabilitated facilities will enable students to maintain better focus on their studies while ensuring consistent school attendance. We look forward to sharing the final results of our sanitation initiative with you soon!
