LEADERSHIP AND SANITATION COACHING IN 5 NEW COMMUNES

Our team has been very busy this month coaching 5 new communes (Cerca Carajaval, Maissade, Ranquitte, Mombin Crochu, and Vallieres) in leadership and sanitation. This includes hiring 12 new coaches, 5 new interns, and purchasing 14 new motorcycles that just arrived from the Dominican Republic.

The 12-month project in partnership with UNICEF has begun with trainers out in the communities everyday meeting with local leaders and taking a household census. They are also counting how many homes have latrines. One of the goals of the program is to help every commune be open-defecation free. We are also implementing WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) education and interventions in 16 schools, health clinics, and public markets in the 5 Communes - this will directly impact over 15,700 individuals and indirectly impact over 121,400!

Even though UNICEF has provided some of the funding for this work, we are still raising funding for the remaining $128,856 towards the project. If you would like to help with that, please earmark it on your donation. Thank you!
